Anti-web

I recently began a conversation with a friend. The whole conversation was primarily about him being a designer and developing webpages. The web has very complex versions of script which has complications from browser to browser. There isn’t any real we developer program which offers a option, What you see is what you get. I have noticed older designer which never learned web don’t want to learn it. the just want to design it. Well when someone comes up with a option there will be a lot of designers signing up. There will also be a lot of developers to trouble shoot these issues

complex web language

While i have been in my web class for almost 18 weeks, The rabbit hole has been exposed. How much of this should I learn? I recently purchased a bunch of books on web design. One part of this complex avenue is responsive web. I need to read it to allow for a more flexible design for my portfolio. It states on the first page you never know what someone is actually reading it on. So with the overall complex web language I am adapting to, I need to learn how to make it viewable on an ipad and a cell phone as well . Geez the demand for every applications accessibility is ridiculous. I am glad that the fundamentals of design doesn’t change usually just the medium for which we view it. Thanks for that.

java script

I came across a website while educating myself about javascript. Hopefully this helps anyone who is using this language. This was provided by

http://www.mediacollege.com/internet/javascript/pros-cons.html

Advantages of JavaScript

  • Speed. Being client-side, JavaScript is very fast because any code functions can be run immediately instead of having to contact the server and wait for an answer.
  • Simplicity. JavaScript is relatively simple to learn and implement.
  • Versatility. JavaScript plays nicely with other languages and can be used in a huge variety of applications. Unlike PHP or SSI scripts, JavaScript can be inserted into any web page regardless of the file extension. JavaScript can also be used inside scripts written in other languages such as Perl and PHP.
  • Server Load. Being client-side reduces the demand on the website server.

Disadvantages of JavaScript

  • Security. Because the code executes on the users’ computer, in some cases it can be exploited for malicious purposes. This is one reason some people choose to disable JavaScript.
  • Reliance on End User. JavaScript is sometimes interpreted differently by different browsers. Whereas server-side scripts will always produce the same output, client-side scripts can be a little unpredictable. Don’t be overly concerned by this though – as long as you test your script in all the major browsers you should be safe.

Portfolio options

The next project in web 2 is a website which hosts a personal portfolio.

There are many complications which can arise from the many decisions that one will make.

Attached to my blog is an address from another college <kent just to see what others are doing>

From what i have observed possibilities are endless. My favorite are the simple clean designs with nice typography

and great use of white space. good luck fellow classmates.

Web design simplified

I have come across some pretty interesting software that I would like to share with you.

Freeway is the software which I am speaking about. Suppose you a designer whom doesn’t

want to learn all the code in the world to accomplish you webpages well here is the software for you.

Well thats the devils advocate. My perspective from using it is, A very efficient program the interface is a little buggy.

These break throughs in software scare me it’s like im going to simplify everything to a point where my children can build my website.

This creates a complication when your working in the field, But  everything always has there pros and cons.

Usability issues in web designs

#1 The browser size changes from user to user. Make sure that it is consistant on different size monitors.

#2 No matter how much they are annoying there should always be a form. Try to encourage people to use the form even if it is a 3 line form. Get that email address.

#3 The constant landing page subjecting viewers to accept too much information. The home page is supposed to introduce you to the company not push you away.

#4 Cross browser capability, this is a constant disturbance to doesn’t allow every user to enjoy your webpage in the manner that it was meant.

There are so many just wanted to touch on some of the one most people are aware of.

Color is a emotional driving element… Use It

When we look at colors there is an  automatic reaction within our minds that takes place.

The proper color choices drive people to the appropriate message you are sending.

Considering we are designing with an intention of a clear message, we need to understand

the impact colors can have on the mind.

In my researching process I have found some nice links for color theory.

Enjoy the concise descriptions of color and how we view them.

Take the long road or the high road

With the over populated world of web accessible template functions, how should one meet the website requests <question-mark>

Do I build everything from blank and design to meet a clients needs who really doesn’t know what they want<question-mark>

There are many available options to meet ones needs for 35$ add some custom css work we have a webpage <period>

This opens a larger conversation of which route do I take <period>

The templates don’t meet portfolio needs but paid work means a lot to a person who needs money and experience <explanation point>
